Project

Full: Women, Health, and the Science of Eating

Women receive constant and often conflicting messages about food, weight and willpower, leaving many feeling that overeating is a personal failure. However, research in neuroscience and psychology shows that our brains are continually responding to “noise” in our surroundings i.e  the sights, smells, stresses and routines that shape what we eat, often without us realising. This podcast series brings that science to life through compassionate, easy‑to‑understand storytelling. By pairing evidence‑based research with real voices from diverse communities across Wales, the project aims to reduce shame and guilt around eating and offer a supportive, science‑informed understanding of women’s relationships with food.

The Centre for Health, Activity and Wellbeing Research (CAWR) has supported the development of this application. CAWR has long‑standing partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders across Wales, including community organisations, health boards, local authorities, and third‑sector partners. Building on these relationships, the project will identify appropriate community collaborators prior to project commencement.
